ALT: Altitude.

APU: Auxiliary Power Unit.

Articulated: A rotor system whose blades are free to flap, pitch and drag individually or collectively.

ATT: Attitude.

Calibrated Air Speed(CAS): The airspeed indicator reading corrected for position and instrument errors.

CCW: Counter Clockwise.

CG: Center of Gravity.

CKP(t): Cockpit.

Cm: Centimeters.

Collective: The helicopter flight control which changes the blade angle of the rotor blades.

COM: Communication.

CW: Clockwise.

Cyclic: A helicopter flight control that can vary the blade angle in a rotor obtaining motion in a desired direction.

Density Altitude: Pressure altitude corrected for nonstandard temperature.

Flight Instruments: Directional gyro, attitude indicator, rate of climb indicator, pitot heater and turn and bank coordinator.

Ground Speed: The rate of motion over the ground.

Indicated Air Speed(IAS) The speed of the helicopter as observed on a standard air speed indicator. It is the air speed without correction.

Maximum external Load: The maximum allowable weight carried externally.

Maximum Gross Weight: Maximum allowable take-off weight.

Mbar: Millibar.

Mid Time: 50% of overhaul/retirement hours on major components has been utilized.

Min: Minutes.

MPH: Miles per Hour.

PRESS: Pressure.

Pressure Altitude: Altitude read on a standard altimeter when the instrument is adjusted to indicate the height above the standard atmosphere pressure.

PSI: Pounds per Square Inch.

PWR: Power.

Service Ceiling: Altitude at which an helicopter can no longer climb at a minimum rate of 100 feet per minute.

SL: Sea Level.

Standard Atmosphere: Pressure and temperature standard for any given altitude, arbitrarily established as a standard. 29.92 ´´Hg or 1013mb and 15°C .

STBY: Stanby.

SYS: System.
